50th Anniversary Open Day

Saturday 15 October 2005 10am to 3.30pm.

This year the Dorset History Centre celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the appointment of the first Dorset County Archivist, Margaret Holmes. Join us for our Open Day 'Telling the Story' of Dorset's People - featuring Tim Laycock, professional storyteller and folk musician

Telling the Story of ...

  • Dorset people - Tim Laycock, professional storyteller and folk musician brings to life the story of local people to be found in the archives
  • Dorset archives - highlights from the 1000 years of history in Dorset
  • The Dorset History Centre - caring for the archives over the last 50 years

Other exciting events:

  • Visit the History Advice Desk
  • Ask the specialists: How to care for your family documents and photographs
  • How the archives are used to write the Dorchester Community Play
  • Family events including special children's quiz

N.B. It is not necessary to book for the Open Day - just come along.

Everyone is welcome!

Refreshments will be available throughout the day, provided by the Friends of Dorset's Archives.
