Yeohead & Castleton Parish Council Keeping you informed ... -> A Taste of Poyntington |
|
Each recipe is specially selected by its contributor as being a particular favourite, so it comprises a most varied and interesting collection of starters, main courses and desserts of which any TV chef would be proud. In fact one very famous cookery writer and broadcaster, Mary Berry, who has associations with Poyntington has contributed no less than three of her own recipes, while Jane Parker who recently moved her rapidly growing Parker’s Menu to a purpose-built kitchen and offices on the edge of this popular village also contributed a recipe and gave sponsorship to the publication. In addition to the recipes there are several pages devoted to the history of the area and the various buildings of distinction in the village itself written by residents who have done detailed research into these subjects. To make the book more visually attractive and interesting there is a wealth of photographs and drawings, all contributed by villagers and those with local associations. Proceeds from the sale of the books, which are being sold at £4.50 each, will be divided between the Church of All Saints and the very charming Village Hall which until 1925 was the village school. “A Taste of Poyntington” is available from the Tourist Information Centre, Castle Gardens Restaurant, Salamander, The Pear Tree, Vineyards, The Toy Barn and other outlets in Sherborne, as well as from the publishers in Poyntington. Price £4.50, format A5, binding: Spiral bound, 80 pages. Photo of cover attached. Further information from Susan Higginson, details below THE FORGE PRESS Tel: 01963 220089 Email: forgepress@aol.com |
