Yeohead & Castleton Parish Council

Minutes of Meeting held at Poyntington Village Hall on Tuesday 30th October 2007 at 7.30 p.m.

The following were present: Councillors Buckland, Mrs Dimond, Hunt, Mrs Oliver, Perryman, Clerk Fraser, District Councillor Gould, 0 members of the public.

Public Participation Session:  

07.40 Apologies for absence: Cllr Kellaway
07.41 Declaration of interest in items on the agenda: None
07.42 The minutes of the meetings held on 6th September 2007 were confirmed and signed by the Vice-Chairman as an accurate record.
07.43 Matters arising:
07.43.01 The clerk reported that the dangerous trees on the A30 at Oborne had been dealt with by DCC.
  The meeting was adjourned for members to receive reports and ask questions of representatives of Dorset County Council and West Dorset District Council.

The matters raised included

07.44 The financial report for the year 2006-07 to date was received and accepted.
07.45 Payments in accordance with budget were approved: Clerk salary: £300.21; Hire of Poyntington Village Hall £15.00; The Toy Barn – refurbishment & re-installation of notice board at Oborne Village Hall £75; PCC’s Oborne, Poyntington & Goathill – towards churchyard maintenance £300 each; Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance – grant £70; Nordcat – grant £150
07.46 Council agreed to go ahead with the refurbishment of the Oborne (London Road) notice board, and the Poyntington Village centre noticeboard after measurements and specifications were confirmed by councillors.
07.47 Budget for 2008-09. This was agreed with some amendments to the tabled proposal to be for £5,381.77, and the precept to be demanded would be £4,955. It was agreed that before £500 was released for upgrading of Oborne Village Hall Council sought further details of the estimate in the letter submitted by the VH Committee.
07.48 The Parish Council confirmed a meeting with Sherborne Town Council and DCC representatives to discuss the designation of “The Dog Walk”, a footpath by the Terrace Playing Fields in Castleton. The Parish Council further agreed to empower Mr J. Hart, Castleton ROWLO to attend the meeting.
07.49 Planning applications dealt with since last meeting or at this meeting:
07.49.01 1D/07/001505. Terrace Playing Fields, Sherborne. Construct 2 mini tennis courts and practice hitting wall, together with 4 floodlights and perimeter fencing. Parish council recommendation: No objection
07.49.02 1/D/07/001282. Paddock, Poyntington. Change of use from paddock to play area. Planning permission approved.
07.49.03 1/D/07/001399. Grange End House, Oborne. Erect extension. Application withdrawn.
07.50 The following reports on meetings attended were received:  None
07.51 Council noted the list of other items of correspondence received by the clerk.
 

The following items were raised for next meeting’s agenda:

The Clerk to write to DCC about the visibility difficulties caused by the position of the new Sherborne Town sign for tractor drivers emerging from the adjacent field on to the main road.

.There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at  8.15 p.m.

The next meeting of Yeohead & Castleton Parish Council is scheduled for Thursday 3rd January 2008 at 7.30 p.m. at Oborne Village Hall.
