Minutes of the extraordinary meeting held on Friday 1st June 2007 at 7.30 p.m. at Poyntington Village Hall.

  1. Present: Councillors P Hunt, Mrs R Dimond, Mrs J Oliver, G. Kellaway, J. Perryman Clerk Fraser, 14 members of the public and WDDC Councillor R. Gould.
  2. Apologies for absence were received from Cllr J. Mason
  3. Yeohead and Castleton Parish Council objects to application 1/E/07/000783 Land adjacent to Welgoer Farmhouse, POYNTINGTON. Outline planning sought to erect 4 low cost dwellings.

The council objects on the grounds that previous applications have failed on this site on the grounds of it being a significant encroachment into the countryside on the fringe of Poyntington and would erode the character of the countryside, and thus an unsustainable development.

The parish council considers that the village is unsuitable for further low-cost housing because of the lack of amenities and minimal public transport. It further takes note of WDDC Cllr Gould’s advice that “affordable housing” has a specific meaning within planning terms and that this application may not perhaps conform to the criteria involved.

There being no further business the meeting was closed at 7.45 p.m.
