Field adjacent to Fossil
Barn, Poyntington – being used for storage of agricultural items and
therefore not eligible for enforcement action by WDDC officers (Minute 6.10)
Poyntington councillors would monitor the situation regularly. |

Clerk reported on
correspondence with Carlisle Process Systems Ltd (Wincanton Engineering)
about the hedgerow on western verge of Castletown Way – a detailed response
was awaited; the clerk will copy the correspondence to Mr Cheleda (DCC) and
urge action to be taken, ideally before the start of the new school term. |

The clerk informed the
meeting of the new laws affecting light pollution and how complaints would
now be dealt with. |

The meeting was adjourned
for members to receive reports and ask questions of representatives of
Dorset County Council and West Dorset District Council.

Council agreed to appoint
Cllr Kellaway as a Trees Officer to undertake initial responses on behalf of
the parish council on receipt of an application to undertake tree work.
Council further requested the clerk to draw up a statement of procedural
principles to be followed for tree work applications – draft statement to be
submitted to council at the next meeting. |

Council received the draft
report on the Oborne Annual Village Meeting and agreed to postpone further
actions with respect to the places about which the village expressed concern
until more detailed information was available. The clerk would advise Roger
Sewill, Estates Dept DCC of the concern expressed about the plantation area
leading north off Underhill Lane, Oborne, and of the desire to find a
satisfactory resolution to the state of the buildings on Mill Close
farmyard. |

The following reports on
meetings attended were received: |

Cllr Mrs Dimond had attended
the Ironman preparation meeting 8th May. The event in 2006 will
take place entirely in Dorset, at no cost to the local communities and with
minimal disruption to the main roads (e.g. no crossing of the A30 this
year). The organisation is improving year on year. |

Council
noted the list of other items of correspondence received by the clerk. The
clerk drew attention to the Dorset AONB Partnership publication “Making the
most of Dorset’s Environment” and to the NALC report on the White Paper on
the Parish and Town Council sector. |
