Site: www.yeoheadpc.co.uk 4th September 2005. Mr
Jim Knight, M.P., House
of Commons, Westminster, London
SW1A 0AA Dear Mr Knight, Yeohead & Castleton Parish Council has expressed its formal objection to an application lodged with Somerset County Council by the Trail Riders Federation to classify certain lanes between the villages of Poyntington, Dorset and Milborne Wick, Somerset as Byways Open to all Traffic. The
council is pleased to note in the news release of 29th January 2005,
GOVERNMENT ACTS TO GIVE CLARITY TO USERS OF 'GREEN LANES', that
the Government intends to act to ensure that lanes such as those in our area
cannot be inappropriately used by motorised vehicles. However, we would be grateful for your advice that the legislation referred to in this news release will be as strong, or stronger, than an amendment that we understand is to be tabled to give County Councils the explicit power to impose a Traffic Regulation Order on a BOAT which is not used as access to a home by anybody, a situation that applies in this instance. Yours sincerely, Michael A. Fraser Parish Clerk |
