More details and DCC guidelines for objectors DCC_CastlewtonBOAT_Guidance.pdf Castleton BOAT Protest! There was a photo call for the Western Gazette on today 31. January, at 2.00 p.m. at Quarr Lane Park, at the Sherborne end of Quarr Lane, where an application has been made to upgrade the Bridal Way to a Byway Open to All Traffic. Quarr Lane is in both Sherborne and Castleton Parish and goes from Quarr Lane Park to join the Sandford Orcas Road. Nearly 50 people, some with horses and ponies, were there to protest against the applications. These Applications to be Discussed at March Council Meeting NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A MODIFICATION ORDER: BYWAYS OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC. In addition to the application for upgrading of bridal ways to Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATS) between Poyntington and Milborne Wick, three further applications have been posted by the Trail Riders Fellowship for upgrading bridleways in Castleton Parish to Byways Open for All Traffic. Two of these are bridleways between Castleton and Sherborne and the third between Castleton and Nether Compton Parishes. One is Quarr Lane which starts in Sherborne and continues into Castleton Parish to join the Sandford Orcas Road. The second is Trent Path Lane, which starts in Sherborne from Sheeplands Lane and continues up to Checcombe Lane in Castleton. The third is Ratleigh Lane along the Castleton/Nether Compton parish Boundaries, and runs from Checcombe Lane to join the road through Nether Compton near Court Ash Cottage.
